We all want to be happy. And most of the time, we see being in some type of relationship as a key to our happiness. As women, we need to learn how to be secure, happy and proud of who we are as individuals before we can expect to have a successful, loving relationship with someone else. So here are 8 things to tell yourself everyday to help you take one step closer to the person you wish to be and the relationship you want to be in.
1. I am confident.
Be confident in who you are as a person. Go confidently in the pursuit of your dreams, the direction you want to take in life and who you want to be in life. Have confidence in who you are and all your personality traits today, the lessons learned from any past mistakes and the future your life has in store for you.
2. I am enough.
Know that you are enough just as you are. You cannot expect to be happy in a relationship with someone else unless you first believe that you are enough on your own.
3. I am independent.
Be independent. Keep in mind that you are fine on your own. Too many times women believe that they need someone to "complete them" or "make them whole." You are a whole person on your own, having someone else to enjoy life with you is just a major plus.
4. I am beautiful.
You are beautiful just as you are. Wash away the makeup, forget the blow dryer and your wardrobe full of fancy clothes and you are a beautiful woman nonetheless. You are beautiful in every way--your heart, soul and mind. Remember the beauty that shines from within you and try to let that shine in your unique way every single day.
5. I am secure.
Tell yourself that you are secure. You are secure in who you are, what you look like and where you are going in life. We all have things we wish to improve on, but being knowledgeable of those things does not negate security. You may not know what tomorrow will bring, but try to live in the security that you know who you are and where you are at in the present moment.
6. I am proud of who I am.
Be proud of who you are. Before you go to sleep every night ask yourself if you are proud of the person that you are. If not, make the alterations where needed. If you can say yes to that, then know you are on the right track to becoming the best you.
7. I am important.
Who you are, your ideas and your dreams are important and never let anyone tell you otherwise. Realize that who you are as a person and what you want to do in life is important, regardless of who you are or what you want to do. Embrace that importance and know that you are important in the lives of others as well.
8. I can be myself.
Be you. Be the crazy, quirky, intelligent, insightful, beautiful person that you are. Not only express who you truly are--all your unique quirks, talents and personality traits--but love that person. Love who you are and appreciate everything that makes you the incredible person you are. How is someone else supposed to love you if you don't love yourself? First, and foremost, you need to love yourself.
