Students at Edina High School were treated with a surprise when they showed up for classes on Friday. 3,000 paper cranes with positive messages such as "You Are Special" and "You Are Loved" had been placed all over the building by a senior wishing to remain anonymous.

School officials said that the student approached Principal Bruce Locklear with the idea earlier in the year. The hope is that the cranes leave each graduating senior feeling appreciated.

The student, who goes by the Twitter handle @theprojectcrane, put in 150 hours working on all of the cranes. The time spent ensured that seniors, many of whom had their last classes on Friday, had a special end to their year.

This isn't the students first time distributing paper cranes either. In January the student placed 500 paper cranes all over the Mall of America.
