Are You Sleeping More and Working Less? Survey Says...

Posted June 26th, 2014 @ 4:45am

A new survey from the Labor Department found that Americans slept more and worked less last year...

The number crunchers behind the survey believe this is because of the sputtering economy. With less business being conducted and less work to do, Americans had more time to rest.

Averaging together both weekdays and weekends, Americans older than 14 slept for eight hours, 44 minutes and worked for three hours, 28 minutes each day.

That’s 14 minutes less work a day and 10 minutes more sleep than a decade ago.

The survey also found that Americans' number one hobby is still watching television.

Respondents said they spent an average of two hours, 46 minutes a day watching TV – 11 minutes more than in 2003. (Wall Street Journal)
