Fourth of July was a big party weekend. If you partied too hard, you’re going to have to get your hangover under control.

Surprisingly, many of the most common go-to hangover foods are actually not the best choices.

You might think you know what to eat when you’re hung over, but you don’t know.

Many foods you might be reaching for when you’re struggling are actually making things worse.

According to Thrillist.com, here are some foods you should not eat when you’re dealing with a hangover:

More Alcohol – It sounds like a no-brainer but when you’re tempted to chug a Bloody Mary to numb your pain, think again. More booze just taxes your system more, leaving you feeling way worse in the long run.      

Breakfast Sandwiches – Greasy food is the worst thing you can have. Alcohol is processed the same way fat is, so when you eat sausage, greasy eggs, and ham, your body just can’t keep up, which prolongs the nightmare.     

Tons of Meat – Eating high protein and not including any carbohydrates will make your headache worse.     

Coffee – A cup or two is no problem. But a bunch of coffee will make your dehydration worse.
