After getting sick this weekend, the Minnesota Zoo announced on Monday that Nadya, a popular tiger at the Minnesota Zoo passed away.
According to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, Kevin Willis, the zoo's vice president of biological programs said in a statement, "she was one of our favorite animals."
She was just 3-years-old.
After falling ill last week, veterinarians at the zoo did emergency surgery, which she survived, but she passed away shortly afterwards. The cause of death is still to be determined, however blood tests indicated poor liver function.
“She will always be remembered by staff and volunteers as a sweet-natured tiger,” Willis said.
