Couple Adopts Nine-Year-Old Girl Who's Actually A 22-Year-Old Sociopath

This has to be one of the craziest stories I have ever read! Please put on a seatbelt because this is going to be a bumpy ride! I would expect something like this to come out of Florida, this story comes out of Indiana.

Let's start at the beginning where Kristine and Michael Barnett from Lafayette, Indiana agreed to an emergency adoption of a six-year-old girl from the Ukraine named Natalia in 2010 (photo below), according to Daily Mail.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Kristine told them, quote, the adoption was a "scam,” and the girl is actually an adult who has made a career out of fooling people into thinking she’s a young girl.

Last week authorities finally tracked down the Barnetts and they were arrested for abandoning their nine-year-old adopted daughter in 2013 when they moved to Canada. They also told authorities that they didn't abandon their nine-year-old, they say they figured out their daughter was actually a 22-year-old dwarf who was posing as a child. They found this out after Natalia tried to poison Kristine, push her into an electric fence, and once attacked a baby. The Barnett family took Natalia to a state-run psychiatric unit to get help. It was during the treatment that Natalia allegedly confessed to being much older than she was and that she wanted to kill her family. When sweet little Natalia was kicked out of that facility, Kristine said they helped secure housing for her in Lafayette. They continued to pay for her housing when they moved to Canada.

No wonder why the Barnetts decided to move to Canada! Now, the story could end there, but it doesn't! The Barnetts don't know why they were arrested and charged for neglect of a dependent. The Barnetts also told authorities they went to court to argue to legally change the girl's age a few years ago, and witnesses testified that their daughter was really an adult.

Where is Natalia now? According to Kristine in the Daily Mail interview, Natalia was evicted from the apartment in May 2014. By then, Kristine says she vanished and stopped returning her calls. The woman fears she stopped taking her medication and is posing as a child for another family. Is it me or does this sound like the movie 'Orphan' which features this exact same scenario!
