Garth Brooks Once Signed Autographs For 23 Hours Straight

Blame it all on his roots!

If you love Garth like I love Garth which is a lot, you're thinking it's about damn time! So where does the 23 hours straight of signing autographs come in to play? Well, gather round as I tell you the story. It was back in 1996, and Garth was having beef with his record company. After making hit after hit after hit, the record company thought he was done and that was the last of Garth Brooks. To prove the record company wrong, he showed up unannounced at Fan Fair or as we know it now as CMA Music Fest, and signed autographs for 23 straight hours. You heard right. 23 hours. Talk about a hand cramp!

The reason he did this, he told Billboard, quote "I wanted to find out who was right. I'm getting the message from my own record label, 'Hey, Garth, great run, but it's over.' And I'm like, 'The people have always been the boss as far as I know, so I'm just going to go out and ask them.' I got my answer the first hour, but by the time the line was there, I owed it to those people to stay with them. I don't know if I could have lived with myself if I'd left people there."

That is the story of Garth Brooks signing autographs for 23 straight hours, and just one of the many reasons why Garth Brook is receiving the Icon Award tonight at the Billboard Music Awards!
