4 Phrases That Young People Don't Get

According to a survey by The Sun, 40% of Gen Z says they sometimes hear older people use phrases they don't understand. Among them:

"Rule of Thumb" or how to do something

"Back to the salt mines" to indicate that you need to get back to work on a particularly laborious task or for a hard to please boss.

"Doesn't cut the mustard" Not meeting expectations

"Burn the midnight oil" To stay up late at night to complete a task.

There are many more of these phrases here.
