PHOTOS & VIDEOS: McKaila's Trip To Memphis

Over the weekend I went to Memphis to visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! I flew out on Thursday afternoon with our Promotions Director Harry and J.R. We landed, headed to the hotel and immediately went to Beale Street to eat at BB Kings! Here's a picture of us with our St. Jude rep, Gretchen, on Beale Street after dinner!

I'm currently participating in a sober January, so it was kind of tough to bar hop and only drink water. Luckily I had Harry there with me, who doesn't really drink. We went to a piano bar called Silky's and the woman playing was asking for requests, so Harry requested some classics.

Friday morning we woke up for breakfast, where Harry decided that he needed to steal some jam.

After breakfast we headed to the hospital! Some of my favorite parts were the ABC's of Cancer and rubbing Danny Thomas' nose (the founder of the hospital-it's for good luck)!

I also learned that when it snows in Memphis, people don't know how to handle it. Case and point - this guy who put his floor mats on his windshield.

Friday night was Casino night, where everybody got a picture in their #ThisShirtSavesLives t-shirt!

Saturday was a day full of St. Jude seminars. It was all about St. Jude Radiothons and building a better broadcast. I'm proud to say that I was asked to be on panel during lunch, which meant speaking in front of EVERYBODY. We talked all about the #ThisShirtSavesLives t-shirt. Shout out to Harry for capturing some pics!)

My favorite moment of the weekend came Saturday afternoon. We heard from 4 former patients who are all in remission! One of the patients is a 16-year-old girl named Addie Paige Pratt. She wrote this unbelievable song called "I Hold On" which gave the whole room chills! (You can buy the song now on iTunes).

The final event of the weekend was epic! (It's called the Songwriters Dinner). Every year, Randy Owen from Alabama plays with some other country artists because Randy Owen is responsible for starting Country Cares. This year, it was Randy and BRAD PAISLEY!

Overall, it was an incredible weekend in Memphis, and I'm so thankful that we get to participate in a radiothon every year for the kids of St. Jude! Already looking forward to December! (:
