(Minneapolis, MN) -- The nation is watching and waiting after hearing the jury in the Derek Chauvin trial has reached a verdict. An official tweet says the verdict will be read in open court soon. The former Minneapolis police officer is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter for kneeling on George Floyd's neck during an arrest last May. The jury heard three weeks of testimony from dozens of witnesses before they were handed the case on Monday. In anticipation of a verdict, Minnesota already declared a state of emergency and Washington, DC activated the National Guard.
