Carbon Dioxide Shortage Could Disrupt Production Of Your Favorite Beverages

I thought the compressed industry produced the carbonation necessary for beverages by pumping a bunch of air and separating the carbon dioxide out.

It turns out that carbon dioxide is a byproduct of ethanol production. Ethanol is blended into gasoline. And with everyone staying home and a huge reduction in the need for fossil fuels, there is worldwide shortage of CO2.

In this article, several big industry players have no comment, while some deny the shortage.

And some other industries could be affected as well, like meat packaging.
