Researchers at Oregon State University designed a robot that was able to run in bipedal fashion over a long distance.
Previously, the robot was able to go 5 kilometers in about 53 minutes. This feat builds up on that. Cassie is the first robot to utilize machine learning to learn a gait to be able to accomplish this.
Watching this robot run is creepy in somewhat the same way that the bad police officer in Terminator 2 was creepy. There's enough of a human element to make me, and probably all of us just a bit uncomfortable.
Luckily, Bolt's record is safe...for now.
