Whether it's a coincidence or not, I started taking Vitamin D this fall and have yet to get the flu or a bad cold. I should mention that I almost ALWAYS get the flu once during the winter months.
Holding off an acute respiratory infection may be easier to do with the help of vitamin D supplements. According to a recent study, vitamin D supplements led to a, quote "statistically significant reduction in the proportion of participants experiencing at least one acute respiratory tract infection." Still they sounded a cautionary note, saying the findings warranted further review and trials.
