Woman's Job Interview Was Cancelled After She Asked How Much it Paid.

posted by Amy James -

Compensation and benefits are definitely taken into consideration when applying for a job. Many times though, the salary and benefit information isn't available on the job posting.

That was the case for Taylor Byrnes who applied for a job at a food delivery start-up called "Skip The Dishes." After Taylor made it through the first round of interviews, she was asked to come in for an "in person" interview. Before she went in, she emailed the HR person and asked how much the position paid...and what the benefits were like. Seems like a reasonable question right?

Well...apparently the HR person didn't think it was. Taylor received a letter basically telling her the interview was cancelled because they wanted someone who was interested in the job...not the money.

A lot of people on Twitter came to her defense, saying she had every right to ask the question...and that it WASN'T too early to ask since she had already been through the first round.

The story got back to the co-founder of the company and he issued the following statement...

“The email sent to Taylor was wrong and does not represent our team’s approach or values,” co-founder Joshua Simair wrote in an email to Buzzfeed.  “We are very disappointed in how it was handled. We do share a compensation package prior to hiring. As soon as we became aware of it on Monday, we reached out to Taylor to apologize for the email and reschedule her interview.”

No word on whether Taylor will take him up on his interview offer.
