Six Movies Opening over the Holidays And Their Trailers

Here are the biggest movies coming out over the holidays . . .

1- Opening Christmas Day, "Spies in Disguise" (PG). . . an animated movie starringWill Smith as a legendary spy andTom Holland as the tech nerd who teams up with him to save the world after accidentally turning Will into a pigeon.

The rest of the voice cast includes Reba McEntire, Rashida Jones, Karen Gillian and DJ Khaled. (Trailer)

2- Expanding nationwide on Christmas Day, "Uncut Gems"(R). . .Adam Sandler plays a gambling addict who owns a jewelry shop in New York's Diamond District. The rest of the cast includes Idina Menzel as his wife,Julia Fox as his mistress, and"Atlanta"star LaKeith Stanfield as his assistant.

Boston Celtics starKevin Garnett also has a pivotal role in it as himself, when he borrows an expensive stone as a good luck charm for a championship game, but then doesn't return it in time, which means Sandler can't settle his gambling debts.

3- Opening Christmas Day, "Little Women" (PG). . . the latest adaptation of the classic Louisa May Alcott novel about the March sisters stars Saoirse Ronan as Jo, Emma Watson as her sister Meg, Eliza Scanlen as Beth and Florence Pugh as Amy.  Laura Dern plays their mom, and Meryl Streep is their aunt. (Trailer)  

4- In limited release on Christmas Day, "1917" (R). . . starring Dean-Charles Chapman as a young British soldier who's given a mission to cross deep into enemy territory to stop his brother's unit from walking into an ambush and save the lives of 1,600 men during World War I. Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth are also in it.

You know Dean as Tommen Baratheon from "Game of Thrones". And in a brilliant piece of casting, the brother he's trying to save is Richard Madden . . . a.k.a Robb Stark on "Game of Thrones". It expands nationwide on January 10th. (Trailer)

5- In limited release on Christmas Day, "Just Mercy" (PG-13). . . starring Jamie Foxx as a wrongfully-convicted, death row prisoner andMichael B. Jordan as a defense attorney being stonewalled by Alabama racism. Brie Larson is also in it as his paralegal assistant. It expands nationwide on January 10th. (Trailer)

6- Opening January 3rd, "The Grudge" is an (R) rated reboot starring Andrea Riseborough as a detective investigating a series of deaths connected to a house that's been cursed by the deaths of someone who died in a state of extreme rage.

The rest of the cast includes John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye and Jacki Weaver. This one is set in America, and in the same timeline as the 2004 Sarah Michelle Gellar movie where the curse was in Japan. (Trailer)
