'The Office' Is Officially Leaving Netflix This Month

It's finally happening–The Office is leaving Netflix. I've spent more hours than I'll admit during the pandemic watching this show. I'm currently on season 4...again.

Beginning on January 1, 2021, the popular workplace sitcom will no longer be available to stream on Netflix. While this is certainly a major bummer for Netflix subscribers, the silver lining is there's still a month to binge all nine seasons before it's gone for good.

Should fans ofThe Office want to continue to have access to the NBC comedy, they'll have to sign up for the network's new steaming platform Peacock. Back in 2019, theWall Street Journal first reported that NBC was in talks to buy back the steaming rights toThe Office when its contract with Netflix expired. NBC will reportedly pay $100 million per year to keepThe Office streaming on Peacock.

It's no surprise that both Netflix and NBC fought to keep the streaming rights forThe Office. According to a Nielsen report from 2019, Netflix users spend more time streaming The Office than any other show on Netflix.

Will you be signing up for a Peacock subscription so you can keep watchingThe Office? Luckily, I already have one through Xfinity.
