The Best Time Of Day To Eat Carbs.

Even when you’re trying to stick to a healthy eating plan, carbs are not the enemy. But not all carbs are created equal, and it’s those simple carbs we have to watch out for. Carbs like white bread, pasta,  and white rice are more likely to cause weight gain because the body  breaks them down into glucose faster, which causes a spike in blood sugar and leaves us hungry and reaching for another snack.

But if we’re going to eat carbs anyway, because let’s be realistic  here, we’re going to do it, when is the best time of day to eat them?  We’ve had the idea that consuming carbs first thing in the morning was  best because that way we have the whole day to burn them off. But according to a new study, there could be an evening sweet spot.

A study from the BBC  had volunteers eat a fixed amount of carbs every day, either in the morning or the evening. Researchers monitored blood glucose levels and  found that they were overwhelmingly lower in the evening. The study also finds that going a long time without carbs - like overnight or all day  long - means your body will be more ready to handle a big bowl of pasta.

Dr. Adam Collins from the University of Surrey is  planning a larger study based on the results of this one, but he has  some great advice on carbs for now: Don’t worry so much about what time  of day you eat the carbs, just don’t overdo it. So pizza for breakfast is fine, sometimes. All things in moderation and all that.
