This is probably the most serious topic I've ever heard Sesame Street talk about. Back in May, Sesame Street introduced a new character, Karli, who had to stay with a foster family because her mom was having a hard time. Now, they're revealing that Karli's mom has an opioid addiction. This week, Sesame Street has been releasing videos of Karli with her friends to show that addiction issues affect not only adults, but also kids.
Sesame Street also released a statement saying that 5.7 million children under the age of 11 in the U.S. live in a house hold with a parent struggling with addiction. They've also introduced a place for children, families and providers to find resources. Click here to read more.
