A picture of a massive snapping turtle found in Minnesota has gone viral! The picture was posted by Niemeyer's Rugged River Resort out of Brainerd and the person who captured the photo actually commented on the photo with the story of what happened:
My daughter heard him breathing before we saw him swim under the Kayak. We were so shocked at his size I shook him off the basket and left. We went back to the same place to fish the next night because I wished I had taken a picture. It wasn’t long after we had a few fish in the basket and he showed up again and I got a picture.
I sent the picture to the DNR they estimate it to be at least 15 years but could be up to 30 years old. Hard to determine by just a picture. His arms were as thick as my wrist.
The 2nd night we didn’t see it coming. I had caught a fish and was grabbing for the basket and there he was! Glad I looked before I grabbed!
