On March 28th, a user on Twitter made the claim that dunking cinnamon rolls in chili was a Midwestern tradition.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz weighed in on the phenomenon as well..
Governor Walz chatted with Racket.com about the trend and gave an official statement on the matter.
"I’m laying the law down on this chili thing: Every single week of public school—as a student and as a teacher—each Friday the lunch ladies made chili and cinnamon rolls, the most anticipated meal of the week. It’s a Midwestern tradition, but what I’m finding is there are some sections of the Midwest where people aren’t as in-tune to the cuisine of things; they don’t know about this," Walz told Racket. "So I’m making the case: Yes, chili and cinnamon rolls, especially on Fridays, is a thing.”
Chris Carr & Company from K102 had NEVER heard of this before, and we are all native to the Midwest! So, we just had to give it a try.
