Loretta Lynn To Be Honored At 2018 CMT Artists of the Year

Loretta Lynn will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award at this year’s all-female 'CMT Artists of the Year' gala premiering Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 8 PM ET/PT.

Academy Award-winning actress, Sissy Spacek will be presenting the lifetime achievement award.

The “Artist of a Lifetime” presentation will be a full circle event that will make history for the second time for Lynn and Spacek. In 1980, Spacek won an Academy Award, as well as "Best Actress" awards from the Golden Globes, the National Board of Review, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the New York Film Critics Circle, and the Kansas City Film Critics Circle for her role of “Loretta Lynn” in the film, “Coal Minor’s Daughter.” Spacek’s Best Actress Oscar win for playing Lynn created a rarity in the Academy's history in that the real-life Loretta Lynn was in the audience witnessing the victory.

As fate and talent would have it, these two talented icons will come together yet again to celebrate another career milestone.

"I'm always so proud when I receive any awards for my music, but when I heard it was this year's ‘Artist of a Lifetime’ award it made me really happy,” says Loretta Lynn in a press release.

“It's an honor to be able to make music that people enjoy and I'm really excited to have a new album coming out. Thank you, CMT for acknowledging me with this award and for honoring the women in country music at ‘Artists of the Year.’"
