I feel like pizza is being personally attacked with these allegations! Just one day after the best National Day in the world, #NationalPizzaDay, someone has the audacity to come after pizza!
According to research conducted by medical service provider Babylon Health, they found that pizza caused more than 3,000 visits to the emergency room in 2018! Apparently, that was 50% higher than the year before, according to the New York Post.
The company also analyzed data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System, which is run by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The figures were based on emergency room medical records where the word "pizza" was included in the doctors' notes.
Many of the injuries included people accidentally slicing their fingers with a pizza cutter. How do you cut your finger with a pizza cutter? You just hold the cutter and roll is across the pizza, sure you have to hold on to the pizza. So, if you're cutting your pizza bottom to top, hold the pizza on the left side. Another pizza related ER visit is choking, sorry if you don't like cheesy pizza! This one is my favorite one, falling while walking on stairs carrying a pizza. You should be carrying a pizza up stairs like it's a newborn baby! Treat it as if it's an antique ceramic vase. You shouldn't be doing the dance from the movie Joker while carrying a pizza up the stairs.
I mean I've been injured by pizza, but you know what, that didn't stop me from loving it. I burned the roof of my mouth after disobeying the waitress when she said, "be careful, it's hot!"
