The pandemic has led to more people buying fresh Christmas trees as a way to try to make Christmas at home feel more special. We always get real trees for Christmas. Our tradition is to get our tree on the Friday after Thanksgiving...yes that is our tree....yes that is my XMas Willie (New Willie Nelson ornament this year). To be transparent, we also have a kid's tree that has all of the homemade / gifted / school made ornaments. That is a fake tree we display in our basement.
Here are some of our favorite locations to get real trees:
Revak Nursery - For years we have cut our own and purchased the pre-cut trees from their barn. Santa meets you as you walk up and my weirdo favorite is to watch the staff put the tree in the shaker! The tree is standing in the shaker, Christmas music is playing and you get to watch the most festive dance EVER! Makes me laugh and feel good every year! Their selection of trees is really impressive, and we've always had great healthy trees that hold their needles very well. They also have a cute Holiday store for gifts and decor.
Cal's Market & Garden Center - Super close to our home in Savage. Another family owned local spot, Cal's has their Christmas trees in their greenhouse for display. You won't freeze! You choose your tree and that's it. They grab the tree for you, shake it, wrap it and tie it to your vehicle! The trees we have had were great trees that also held their needles very well...that's a big deal when you buy a tree in late November and don't take them down until after New Year's Eve!
Sailer's Greenhouse - This year is our first year getting our real Christmas tree from Sailer's. My wife does like to shop there for gardening and landscaping. They display their trees in their greenhouse. The trees are hung from above, which makes it easy to see what the tree looks like and you can easily spin them. They have a very nice store that is packed with decorating ideas and items for the Holidays! Impossible to walk through and not buy something! The tree selection was really good and so far we are loving this year's tree!
