5 Funny Terms That Will Be Heard During The Olympics

Five Funny Terms You Might Hear During the Olympics and What They Mean

The Olympics get under way this weekend! Here are five funny and totally innocent terms you might hear that SOUND a bit suggestive . . .

1. Shuttlecock: It's the small projectile the players hit back and forth in badminton. It's also known as a birdie.

2. Clean and Jerk: In weightlifting, it's a two-part lift where the weight is first lifted to the shoulders and then overhead.

3. Snatch. It's another weightlifting move where the barbell is lifted from the ground to overhead in one smooth motion.

4. Hooking. Weightlifting again. Also known as a hook grip. It's when a lifter covers their thumb with the other fingers when they grip the bar.

5. Breaststroke: It's one of the four types of strokes in swimming. The other three are butterfly, backstroke, and freestyle.
