Getting married is a big decision. Before you go ahead and say “I do,” you’re going to want to make sure that you and your partner’s bigger goals and plans align – both in the short term and in the long term.
Relationship expert Allison Raskin explains it best when she says that modern marriage is no longer fitting into a previously established mold – instead it’s something you and your partner get to build, together.
With that being said, you are going to want to make sure that you and your boo are on the same page. How can you do this? By asking the right questions. Here are the eight questions you should definitely be asking your partner before you walk down that aisle.

- Do you see yourself with kids in the future?
- Do you expect our house to run the way your family of origin ran?
- In what ways do we need to receive and show each other love?
- What do you think is the best way for us to handle disagreement?
- What is your expectation for how much time we spend with both sides of our families?
- Do you have any personal history that I should know about?
- Why do you want to get married?
