An Ohio woman who reported her car stolen was afraid the police would take their time in trying to locate it, so she told them her four-year-old daughter was inside.
Jessica Pickett's plan got cops to use every available resource to find the car, but it was extremely illegal and now she's in some big trouble. Pickett told police she'd left the girl sleeping in the back of the car while she ran inside her home for a minute, and when she returned, the car was gone. After receiving the call, the police issued an Amber Alert for the little girl.
Officers found the vehicle parked about a mile away, but there was no child inside. They suspected that the child may have never been inside the car, which Pickett's aunt later confirmed when she told police the little girl was with her at the time. Pickett was charged with falsification and her children were placed in the custody of Child Services. The man who did actually steal the car was also captured, and he's been charged with grand theft auto. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
