I don't think I'm alone in admitting this; I talk to myself all the time. Full conversations, pep talks, and everything in between. I'm in the studio by myself everyday and am sure people have looked through the window when the mic's off and wondered..."Who's she talking to?" Me. I'm talking to me.
Turns out, this is a good thing.
Sure, you may look weird, but research says you should talk to yourself in the third person more often. According to a Michigan State University study, talking to yourself in the third-person has a calming effect, especially when you’re stressed. Basically, talking to yourself in the third person can make it feel like you are giving advice to a friend. So, you are essentially distancing yourself from the bad or stressful experience.
