Researchers at Emory University surveyed more than 3,000 married or previously married people and found that waiting three years before tying the knot decreased the likelihood of divorce by 50%.
I definitely didn't follow this. Jeff and I got engaged exactly one year after our first date and got married 7 months after that. My sister, on the other hand, married her childhood sweetheart and they dated for a baker's dozen worth of years before tying the knot.
