This year Minneapolis is hosting the big day. Lot's of hockey to be played on the outdoor rink outside Parade Stadium.
The outdoor hockey weekend will kick-off on Thursday, Jan. 16 with two outdoor girls’ high school hockey matchups featuring Holy Angels vs. Minneapolis and Grand Rapids-Greenway vs.Blake. A Hockey Day first is slated for Friday, Jan. 17 as a Hockey Day Minnesota NHL Alumni Game will be played. Then, on Saturday, Jan. 18, FOX Sports North will televise two outdoor boys’ matchups featuring Warroad vs. Minneapolis and Blaine vs. Blake as well as a WCHA women’s showdown between the University of Minnesota and Ohio State. The NHL takes the spotlight during primetime in a matchup featuring the Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars at Xcel Energy Center. FSN

SnowKato Days is a 10-day winter festival packed with festivities featuring activities for all ages and interests. This new annual event is scheduled for January 17-26 and is a call to action for those who are up for bold, crazy winter fun in January. Current planned activities include a medallion hunt, promotional buttons, daily prizes, learn to curl, ski and ice skate, a snow sculpture contest, sled bowling, hockey and more.
