Carly Pearce and her husband, Michael Ray, have to work harder than the average couple to spend time with one another. With both artists out on the road throughout much of the year, it's important for them to look ahead and plan time to set aside for one another.
"We do, at the beginning of the year, we pick a week to block and then our people do understand- we have the same management team so that helps to be able to see," Pearce shared with her record label. "We really don’t like to go more than two weeks apart. We feel like that’s when my claws start coming out. Just as women, I feel like we need our man, even if it’s for a few hours."
"But honestly our schedules change so frequently that we try to do it for like the next two weeks," she adds. "Okay, you’re here, you’re here. Okay we’re going to have that night. Okay, great. Okay, do I need to fly to you? We kind of do it every two weeks."
The best case scenario is if the two find themselves in the same place for not only each other but also their job. Just last week, Pearce and Ray made their live TV debut of "Finish Your Sentences," on Good Morning America.
The adorable duet comes from Pearce's self-titled album, released last month on Valentine's Day. "Finish Your Sentences" is a song about knowing someone so well, you know what they're thinking before they actually say it, you can finish their sentences.
The track was written by fellow country artists, Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett alongside songwriters, Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley. The song came to Pearce through Big Machine founder, Scott Borchetta who insisted she record it Ray, who was her then-boyfriend.
"He said, 'Hey I'm on the road with TR [Thomas Rhett] and we want you to sing this with your new boyfriend. Here comes the file," she recalls. "And I immediately was like, I hope that we stay together because I really wanna sing this song with him. But we went in, and we were like, 'I hope our voices sound good together,' and I just am so excited."
