Because hotel occupancy rates have dropped dramatically, bed bugs don't have enough food to go around.
I have never knowingly encountered bed bugs in my hotel stays but sometimes I haven't been so sure.
According to Your Mileage May Vary, young bed bugs start to die after a few weeks without food, which is the blood of guests. Older ones die after a few months. So this could be a fantastic, albeit expensive extermination of bed bugs.
