Woman Has Baby While In Medically Induced Coma From Coronavirus

A 27-year-old respiratory therapist from Vancouver, Washington, gave birth while in a medically induced coma, after being diagnosed with coronavirus. Angela Primachenko was 33 weeks pregnant when she tested positive for COVID-19. Days later she was fighting for her life and on a ventilator. Doctors induced labor to give Angela a better chance and to protect the baby. When she got off the ventilator and woke up, Angela looked down and realized the baby had been born. “After all the medication and everything I just woke up and all of a sudden I didn't have my belly anymore. It was just extremely mind-blowing."

Angela has been released from the hospital but has not been able to her hold her daughter, Ava, who is still in neonatal ICU -- but she has been able to see her on FaceTime. Ava tested negative for COVID-19 as did Angela’s husband, David, and their 11-month-old daughter, Emily. (Today)
