Victoria’s Secret is moving in a more inclusive direction and their new Instagram post is proof.
It promotes the Summer Solstice sale event and features Dutch model Jill Kortleve wearing a bikini while standing in front of the ocean looking gorgeous, but it’s a different kind of bikini shot for the brand. She’s curvier than most models they typically use and her photo isn’t airbrushed either.
Kortleve, who is of Dutch, Surinamese, Indian and Indonesian descent, doesn’t look like the recently retired Victoria’s Secret Angels, who were known for their long torsos, even longer legs and incredibly flat stomachs. Even her tattoos are on display in the photo, something that the Angels never showed in a photoshoot. Earlier this month, Victoria’s Secret swapped it’s supermodel Angels for The VS Collective with ambassadors including actress Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and soccer player Megan Rapinoe, and while some fans have been critical of the brand for doing away with their signature models, many are happy to see the change.
