The Most Contaminated Thing In Your Kitchen

If you had to pick one area in your kitchen that was the dirtiest/germiest item, would you think of your spice cabinet/drawer? Turns out you might want to clean all your spice containers in the near-future!

A new study found that spice containers are often the most contaminated/germiest thing in people's kitchens and it's mostly because we grab spice when handling raw foods.

Researchers observed participants prepare a sample meal of turkey burgers and salad and actually injected a pathogen into the turkey meat to see where it spread and cross-contaminated. It turns out that half of the spice containers used had traces of the pathogen because people weren't washing their hands before handling spices.

Let this be a simple reminder to always wash your hands when working with raw meat and touching something different!
