People Are Angry About The New Ted Bundy Movie Trailer

The trailer for the new Ted Bundy movie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile starring Zac Efron premiered over weekend and people are very upset about it. In case you don't know, Ted Bundy was a serial killer that is believed to have killed over 30 women.

Check out the trailer below.

According to Buzzfeed

Speaking about his performance, Efron told Variety that he initially had reservations about taking the role.

“I’ve seen people make horror films like this before, and it seems like an aggressive play to separate yourself from a perceived image. And it’s got a lot of killing and hacking and slashing. I think I’ve seen that before too many times,” he said.

The 31-year-old stars opposite Lily Collins, who plays Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy's ex-girlfriend. The film tells Bundy's story from Kloepfer's perspective.

Many people felt the music used in the trailer makes light of the story, and that the trailer in general "romanticizes a monster."

Here's where I like to play devil's advocate - I know it's a story about a serial killer, BUT Bundy was known for being rather charming and using that to his advantage to lure women. In addition to that, the movie is told from the perspective of Bundy's then girlfriend, who did not know Bundy as a killer, but rather as this charming man. What are YOUR thoughts on the trailer?
