Growing up I always assumed that an average family had a beer fridge in their garage. To me that's what makes you an average American family. We all know a family, or maybe your family has a beer fridge in the garage.
A couple shared their story on CNBC, and said they feel average making $500,000 a year. Could you imagine making $500,000 a year and feeling average? I don't know about you but I could do a lot of damage making $500,000 a year. I could buy Wild, Vikings, and Twins season tickets, a nice house in Edina, a nice used car, a target shopping trip (I would still forget what I came for), and still have money left over.
So how does this couple spend their money? Here's a breakdown of their budget:
This couple might feel average but there's really nothing average about them.
I get that you have pay bills to pay and other expenses, but to the average person $500,000 is a lot of money to make in a year. After looking at their breakdown there's two things that stick out to me.
Did you really need to buy that 1.5 million dollar house? You could still live the good life in a $300,000+ house plus have a beer fridge in your garage. Now, what about those $6,000 Vacations? I'm all for going on vacation twice a year, but 3 times? I don't think my wife and I have ever taken a $6,000 vacation. We might have been close with our honeymoon to Maui, but spending 6k on three vacations seems a little excessive to me!
