Minnesota Bans Large In-Person Graduation Ceremonies For The Class Of 2020

One of the best things about high school and college is walking across that stage in front of your family and friends, and receiving your diploma. Those 4 years flew by and all that hard work finally paying off. Before this school year started seniors were already thinking about graduation and what the next chapter of their life holds for them.

Today it was announced that Minnesota education and health officials are banning large, in-person graduation ceremonies for the class of 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the safest way for schools to celebrate is for everyone to stay home, according to Fox 9

The officials say that virtual ceremonies should be their top priority. As for Diplomas and caps and gowns, the health officials say distributing materials such as diplomas, caps and gowns should be done via contactless delivery or pickup whenever possible, with staff wearing cloth face coverings and gloves. They also recommend a car parade for your graduate! According to Minnesota health officials, graduation celebrations like car parades or parking lot ceremonies are allowed, but... each household should be in a separate car and people attending the parade should stay in their cars.

With that being said, I know seniors might be sad or upset they won't have a graduation. That's why I'm dedicating to the Class of 2020 Drew Baldridge's Senior Year to you!
