What Age Should You Have "The Talk" With Your Kids

How old were you when your parents had the birds and the bees talk with you? Did they never have the talk with you? According to “sexpert” Debbie Bere, parents should be talking to their kids about sex before they turn eight. “We should talk about sex from an early age. They have questions from birth,” Bere says in an online video. “It needs to be before aged eight or nine as this is when they get icky and embarrassed. If they are old enough to ask a question, they are old enough to hear the answer.” She also says when parents are explaining genitals, they should not give them a nickname – since they usually don’t for other parts of the body. "We don’t give other parts of the body a nickname," she says. "Giving them the real name empowers them.”
