What you need to know for the Gophers in the B10 Tourney

Last night the Gopher Men's Basketball team had the opportunity to earn the program's highest seed in the Big Ten Tournament in program history. Unfortunately, they landed at number 4 after a big loss to Wisconsin. Their 11-7 Big Ten record trails No. 1 Purdue (14-4), No. 2 Wisconsin (12-6), and No. 3 Maryland (12-6).

On the bright side, they still finished No. 4 in the Big Ten which means they've earned a double bye in this week’s tournament!  Gophs will play Friday in the quarterfinals versus either No. 5 Michigan State, No. 12 Nebraska, or No. 13 Penn State. Time of game is 25 minutes after the end of the 11 a.m. game where Purdue plays.

After last night's 66-49 loss at Wisco, Coach Pitino said, “Our guys need to understand they got themselves a double bye when a lot of people picked us toward the bottom – and rightfully so. So we need to understand we have a lot to be proud of, but also understand that with the way we played (against Wisconsin), it would be a quick exit in the Big Ten tournament.” Pitino also noted, "As much as I’m disappointed with the way we played in the second half, we’re one of the best stories in the country in my opinion, to totally flip the switch like we did, to bring in five new guys and do that (is impressive). I’m sure tomorrow I’ll wake up and be really, really proud like I should be. (Sunday night) I won’t be very happy.”

Here's hoping Pitino woke up happy this morning and the gophs make a nice little run in March down the stretch! Go Gophers!
