Kelsea Ballerini Opens Up About Divorce on Podcast, Morgan Evans Speaks Out

Kelsea Ballerini joined the "Call Her Daddy" podcast on Wednesday to tell her side of the story as it relates to her divorce from Morgan Evans. This comes after Kelsea released her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP and short film.

Prior to the podcast releasing Morgan Evans shared the following on Instagram, "It’s really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren’t reality and that leave out what really happened. She knows I’m not the type of guy to speak on those things publicly. If this is what she needs to heal, I hope it helps. All I ask is that if you’re on my pages, please don’t be mean. Don’t be mean to Kelsea, don’t be mean to each other."

On the podcast Kelsea shared the breaking point in their marriage was her realizing she wasn't ready for kids. "That was something that we had talked about early on, and that was something that I was changing on," she explained. ''Cause he was ready. He was like, 'I don't want to be an old dad,' is what he kept saying. And I was like, 'I'm not there yet, and I can't do that to save this and give you something that I'm not ready for.'"

Kelsea also opened up about her new relationship with Outer Banks actor, Chase Stokes, sharing she slid into his DMs on Instagram. “His handle is ‘@hichasestokes’ and I just said, ‘Hi Chase Stokes.'"

When asked how she thought her ex would react she said, "I’m not married to him anymore. I don’t need to care about his feelings anymore. I mean that with all the respect in the world, but his journey is not mine. I hope that he is protected from what he needs to be protected from seeing … [but] that is not my job."

Looking to see either of them on tour? Kelsea makes her way to the Twin Cities March 10th at the Armory on her Heartfirst Tour, while Morgan will be at the Armory April 8th as he opens for Brett Young.
