Minnesota House Passes Recreational Marijuana Bill

The latest buzz in the Land of 10,000 Lakes isn't a bunch of mosquitos, it's that the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the recreational cannabis bill this afternoon.

The breakdown: This bill would let adults who are 21 and older buy up to 2 ounces of cannabis at a time and grow up to eight plants (but only four can be mature at any given time). You could possess 2 ounces in public and a whopping 5 pounds at home. The bill also allows for home delivery from licensed cannabis providers, and it would expunge prior marijuana convictions.

It seems like a majority of Minnesotans are on board with this green revolution. According to a recent poll, 58% of those surveyed support full legalization of recreational marijuana. So, it looks like the tide is turning, and Minnesota might just be joining the ranks of the other 21 states and D.C. that have already legalized marijuana.

The bill still needs to pass in the Senate, and then it's off to the governor for a John Hancock (and he's already expressed support for the bill).
